About MMF Ireland
About
The Music Managers' Forum Ireland (MMF Ireland) came into existence in January 2009. Alan Cullivan (Manager - The Thrills) was voted in as founding Chairman and he, together with five other founding managers, will oversee the establishment of an organization, which will strive to further the issues important to music managers, and the Irish artists they represent.
MMF Ireland will provide a strong, united voice for its' membership of music managers of both high profile and developing artists and also of self-managed artists looking after their own career interests. In a complex industry where the meaning of success changes daily, the MMF Ireland will provide a place where those who wish to learn about progressing in the music industry from seasoned experts, and from each other, can do so. Opportunities to network will also become a vital part of the forum's activities. Supported by Irish music industry bodies including First Music Contact & IMRO, the forum is well positioned to represent managers and their artists at the highest levels.
Music Managers' Forums run in 15 countries worldwide and are part of the International Music Mangers' Forum (IMMF). The IMMF hold a voting seat on the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) which, among other remits, attempts to protect the work of artists of all kinds. The MMF Ireland has now joined this global set of artist rights activists.

Angela Dorgan of First Music Contact, Music From Ireland says, "I welcome the establishment of the MMF Ireland - it's a positive step for artists if it can encourage professionalism amongst managers and help equip them with the necessary skills for the job".
IMRO's Keith Johnson states, "Ireland has always been awash with a broad spectrum of incredible songwriting and performing talent. A vital component in making the leap from the initial creative output to national and international success is the ability of any artist or band to get the business end of things right. The role of the manager is a key element in this process. The foundation of MMF Ireland is a very welcome development. Through their ongoing support mechanisms and training programmes for music managers in the years ahead, music creators and the industry as a whole will undoubtedly benefit greatly."
